T H E K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S the people of God, and declare, “ My Cord delayeth His coming.” Mt. 24:48,. These words are on the lips and in the hearts of many a professed Christian today. During the great world war all Christendom was astir with expectancy. Many people were almost certain that the Lord would come before the close of a seven-year period dating from the beginning of the waff. But such a seven-year period is now past, and Sa tan will no doubt tempt many a man to say with the mockers of Ezekiel’s day, “ The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth.” Ezek. 12:22. Let no child of God ever say, “ My Lord de layeth His coming,” lest it be again like it was in the days of the mockers of old, and the “ delay” that we think is ‘‘far off,” may prove to be only a very short time, and “ the Lord of that ser vant shall come in a day when he looketh not for Him, and in an hour that he is not aware of.” Mt. 24:50. The apostle Peter also tells us of these mockers who will arise in the last days. “ Knowing this FIRST, that there shall come in the last days, scof fers, . . • saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the crea tion.” 2 Pet. 3:4. Every observing Christian who watches the fulfilling prophecies, knows that these words are spoken by many a person today. They say, “ There always have been pesti lences, and wars, and famines, and earthquakes, and apostasy. Things are no different from what they ever were.” But Peter says, when once the people begin to say such things, then we are “ in the last days.” He says that this mockery will come FIRST, and then “ SWIFT destruction” will quickly fol low. The very fact that there are men all over Christendom who t mock the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, is a proof of two things. First, that we are in “ the last days,” and second, that the

judgments of God are neither ‘ linger ing” nor “ slumbering,” and that the “ destruction” of the Great Tribulation will come with “ swiftness.” In Ezekiel’s day, the mockers who declared that the days of trouble were “ far off,” also were crying, “ Peace, peace.” “ They have seduced my peo ple, saying, Peace; and there was no peace.” Is it not just the same in these days? The very men who mock and “ delay” the Lord’s coming, are also cry ing, “ Peace, peace, when there is no peace.” But remember the words of the apostle Paul, “ For when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden de struction shall come upon them.’ In Ezekiel’s day, when the mockers were crying “ Peace” and declaring the days of danger to be “ far off,” it was just a little over three years until the awfulness of it all overwhelmed them. How long will God be patient with the mockers in these days? Will it be only a few years at the most? We do not know. But we do know that the Word of God says when these mockers arise, their destruction will be “ sudden” and “ swift” and their damnation will nei ther “ linger nor slumber.” HAS HUMAST NATURE CHANGED? A very significant article appears in the “ Outlook” , by Capt. L. M. Over- street, U. S. N. In regard to thè mat ter of disarmament and scrapping of the navy, he says: “ Suppose all nations should put com plete naval disarmament into effect, and all nations should scrap every type of fighting craft from battleship to sub marine. What would happen? In case of war, the nation which had the great est number of merchant ships would automatically gain control of the sea. At present Great Britain has over 10,000 seagoing merchant ships— more, in fact, than the other four Great Powers— America, Japan, France and Italy— combined. This would give Great Britain
