Term First-year is gendered. WA state legislature has requested that we use gender neutral language whenever possible and appropriate. The market analysis and the "plan" are not in alignment. The market analysis clearly indicates that CWU has "no defining reputation". The "strategic" solution is apparently to have more open houses and add administrators (i.e. "increase investment in academic success"), where it should focus on developing academic programs to strengthen the reputation of the university. This "plan" is very backward in that respect. It is also truly unethical to allow students in that are not prepared for college. I see that we have the second lowest GPA and SAT scores of our peer institutions. We are stealing their money and should not expect retention to improve. Students go to a university either for the programs or because they can get in. We seem to be focusing on the latter.
