A memorial headstone provides a focus for personal memories - a place to visit, lay flowers and reflect on happy times with your loved one. We have a wide range of designs to choose from and source only the finest materials to produce memorials to the highest standards. A lasting tribute for your loved one

When you are ready to discuss your memorial choices, whether before or after the funeral, please contact us and we can arrange an appointment at one of our funeral homes or in the comfort of your own home. We can also make arrangements by post, phone or email, if preferred. Regulation When choosing a memorial there are

often restrictions in place from local burial authorities regarding the size, materials, colours and wording used. We can provide full advice and guidance, helping you through every step of the process. Additional inscription There may be times when a further inscription needs to be added to an existing memorial to commemorate another member of the family. Memorial cleaning and renovation Cleaning and renovation can make a big difference to the appearance of older memorials. Sometimes the existing lettering on a memorial might appear worn due to age. We can undertake re-gilding, re-painting and re-leading of memorial lettering. We will carry out a site visit for all additional inscription, cleaning and renovation work to enable us to view the memorial, measure up and take photographs to ensure our advice and quotations are accurate and appropriate. Maintenance plan We offer a maintenance plan over 1,3 or 5 years. Please ask for a leaflet for more information. Can I insure a memorial? For added protection, we offer Stoneguard ® Memorial Stone Insurance, underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance PLC. The policy covers everything from minor repairs to total replacement including accidental damage from lawn mowers, falling trees and subsidence.

4 Materials

Memorials are made from granite, marble or natural stone, however some local burial authorities may insist on specific requirements. We can advise you on these local regulations.

Granite Granite is extremely hard wearing and polishes to a beautiful finish. It is available in many different colours and lends itself to very intricate lettering and finely etched design work. Finishes: Polished, part polished, honed or rustic Marble Carrara is the usual marble used for memorials. Marble is generally white and has a blue grey vein. As it weathers, it turns grey and becomes sugary, due to surface erosion. Finishes: Honed, fine rubbed or rustic Limestone The material is formed under water and contains shells, such as Portland stone. The colour ranges from cream to beige. Finishes: Honed or rustic

Nabresina Nabresina is more dense and finer grained than many British stones. It is cream in colour with a small brown fleck. Finishes: Fine rubbed or rustic Sandstone Silica stones, such as York stone, can be harder and more durable than limestone. The colours vary from sandy to grey. Finishes: Fine rubbed or rustic Slate A high quality material of unique structure, ideal for intricate carving. Available in blue and black. Finishes: Honed

Inscriptions The words on the headstone are a personal choice. We have listed below some suggested verse structure to help you choose the wording for the inscription. Some churchyards and cemeteries have restrictions about the wording that can be featured on memorials and we will advise you about these.

Suggested verse structure

Alternative words • Treasured memories of • Together again • Reunited • Cherished memories

IN EVER LOVING MEMORY OF A DEAR HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER (NAME) 1937 – 2023

TREASURED MEMORIES OF OUR DEAR MOTHER (NAME) WHO PASSED AWAY (DATE OF DEATH) AGED 72 YEARS

• Sadly missed • Rest in peace • At rest

• Always in our thoughts • Forever in our hearts • Gone are the days we used to share, but in our hearts you’re always there • Gone from us but not forgotten

You may also use your own personal message of choice.

20 Accessories

Badges and insignia We are able to produce any service or association badge or crest, the size of which will vary depending on the memorial or vase.

Photo plaques We can reproduce any good quality colour or black and white photograph in enamel. You can choose from a round or oval plaque, both of which can be mounted in a frame if you prefer.

21

Accessories Sandblast images All sandblast images can be further enhanced with gold leaf or even coloured enamel prints. These sandblasted finishes can be applied to any granite, marble or natural stone memorial. Alternatively, you may have a design of your own that you wish to use to reflect the interests or hobbies of a love one.

22 What to do next 1. Make an appointment with your local funeral home to discuss your ideas and choices for your memorial. 2. We will check the local rules and regulations to ensure that your preferred memorial is permitted in the churchyard or cemetery of your choice. 3. When this has been confirmed, we’ll then provide you with a no obligation itemised estimate for your chosen memorial. 4. If you decide to go ahead, we’ll then apply for the necessary permission and permits on your behalf. 5. A scaled layout of the new memorial will then be produced for you to approve. This will show the shape of the memorial, the inscription you have selected, along with the position of any flower containers, designs or photo plaques that you have decided upon. 6. Once the layout is approved, work will start on the memorial and we’ll then contact you to let you know when your memorial is completed and fitted. 7. When the memorial has been placed on the grave, we’ll send you a photograph to show the memorial in situ.

FAQ’s

How long will my memorial order take to complete? Once the cemetery/churchyard fixing permit is returned to us along with a signed confirmation and deposit, a standard memorial takes approximately 14 weeks to complete whilst some bespoke memorials may take longer but we will advise at the time of order. Please note that fitting can sometimes be delayed due to ground conditions, cemetery and burial ground regulations or adverse weather. What is a cemetery/churchyard fixing permit? A mandatory application form, specific to the cemetery or churchyard concerned, showing the proposed work to be carried out and signed by the registered owner of the grave. Please note that fitting can sometimes be delayed due to ground conditions or adverse weather. Is my memorial guaranteed? Yes, we provide a conditional 5 year written memorial guarantee on product and craftsmanship. This excludes any letter finish over 12 months or any accessories.

How do I pay for my memorial? A 50% deposit plus the permit fee is required before an order can be processed. What happens when the memorial is completed? We photograph your completed memorial and send the picture to you with your settlement request letter. What happens if my memorial tilts in the future? The ground in cemeteries and churchyards is always being disturbed therefore ground settlement can occur. Our policy is to level up our memorials, free of charge, within one year of fixing. Can I pre-pay for my memorial in advance? Yes, we can provide a fully guaranteed memorial plan, so there will be no more money to pay when the time comes, even if prices rise.
