APRIL 2019 the Beauty BOOK
Put Your Best Face Forward
Fads come and go, but one trend is timeless: healthy skin. Have you ever seen someone whose skin glows as if there were a light inside them shining outward, giving them a beautiful, youthful appearance? This is what I want for all my patients, and with the right regimen, it’s easily attainable. While the only part of the skin we see is the epidermis, this outer, visible layer of skin hints at what’s going on beneath the surface. Large pores, old scars, wrinkles above the lips, and other surface imperfections are indicative of deeper issues. Luckily, these surface- level indicators can help us determine which treatments will best revitalize the skin. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an amazing anti- aging and rejuvenating treatment that uses the patient’s own plasma to return volume and elasticity to the skin. PRP is useful in a number of ways, including for hair replacement and restoration.
Our estheticians are pros at finding a skincare regimen that’s right for you. From helping with hair removal on the eyebrows to provide contouring and brighter eyes, to providing gentle but powerful facial treatments that leave your skin feeling dewy, they can determine what will be most beneficial for each patient and provide them with the ideal anti-aging plan. Remember — an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It’s easier to prevent many of these signs of aging than remove them. In every season, wear sunscreen when you go outside. While it’s important to soak up some sunshine and give yourself a Vitamin D boost, you don’t want your skin to be harmed by excessive exposure. Spend less time outside, and if you’ll be in the sun for more than 10 minutes, wear protective layers or hats to protect your skin. Jane Iredale’s dry powder sunscreen is an excellent alternative to cream-based protection. If you’ll be in the water, be sure to use a waterproof formula. Healthy eating and exercise will also contribute to your skin’s appearance. A diet rich in veggies, especially the cruciferous variety, has been shown to improve volume and elasticity in multiple studies. Sugar and caffeine are dehydrating, so consume them sparingly. As always, I’m here to answer your health and beauty questions. I love being a part of my patients’ anti-aging journey and using the beautiful mixture of science and art to bring you the results you desire.

Skin naturally loses elasticity as we age, but we can combat that loss by using precise, customized treatments. When a patient comes in, I take an assessment of their skin, specifically their face, to identify areas that have lost volume and are showing other signs of aging. From that information, treatments can be used to recreate that younger appearance through volume restoration and carefully boosting specific parts of the face. With precisely placed Botox injections and fillers, we can return youth and vitality to a patient’s appearance.
