Queen's College Scholarship Brochure

The Queen’s College Music Scholarship

As part of our usual co-curricular programme, we have a wide range of large and small ensembles, focusing on all disciplines and providing exciting opportunities for players of all levels. The Music Department enjoys performing a diverse range of musical styles from medieval choral to instrumental modern jazz and everything in between. Students take part in a number of events throughout the year, with numerous virtual and streamed concerts and services to perform in. Our excellent Music Technology facilities allow us to record and mix all of our performances and Music Technology is a vibrant entity in itself with well subscribed clubs on a weekly basis.

Our music facilities are excellent, with a spacious, purpose-built Music School complete with practice rooms and a music technology suite. This adjoins the Queen’s Hall auditorium – a 570-seat, fully equipped concert hall, complete with Steinway Model D concert grand piano and 30-stop pipe organ with mobile console, as well as state-of-the art lighting and sound systems. Queen’s College has excellent instrumental teaching support with a highly qualified team of nineteen visiting teachers, who cover every aspect of orchestral and band performance. There is also a skilled line-up of keyboard teachers and vocal teachers, specialising in jazz, modern and classical music. Queen’s Music Scholars also have wonderful opportunities with our orchestra-in- residence, the Southern Sinfonia.
