This spectacular showing placed the Israeli capital ahead of some of the world’s most heavily visited and iconic cities, including Tokyo, Florence, Prague, Seoul, and Cape Town. Beyond its top- ten global debut, Jerusalem also claimed the ultimate crown as the Number One City in the Africa and Middle East region, marking a major triumph for the local tourism industry. Revering its status as the third most important Christian pilgrimage destination in Israel—surpassed only by Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre and Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity—a coalition of Israeli ministries and authorities teamed up to execute a 25 million ILS infrastructure overhaul.
