his heart, and is kept from yielding to them. But it is different with Mike. When this cigarette comes along, he receives it. It is an easy thing to take the show ticket and whiskey when his heart has not received Christ and the Word of God. If boys and girls would receive Christ as Saviour and would hide the Word of God in their heart, they would be able to resist temptations. Max reminds me of Peter's advice in 1 Peter 1:15, R. V .: "Like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living.”
was not sad. He knew that the suffer ings of this, life were not to be compared to the glories of the life eternal. P e t e r wanted all of Jesus’ followers to under stand this, so he wrote down things he knew that they

should think and do as good Christians. Lesson Story: First, he said, Christians should be of the same mind. They all be lieved the same thing, so they should be able to live happily together. They should be loving and tenderhearted and hum ble. They should not return evil for evil, but rather bless the one that did them evil. That’s a hard thing to do, isn’t it? But that is the way a Christian must live. He must not even speak evil with his tongue. He must turn from evil and do good. He must live in peace. Even if a Christian suffers because of his goodness, he must not be troubled about it. And when any one asks a Christian, "What gives you such joy and courage?” he should tell that one that his hope is in God. Finally, Peter reminded the people that Christ Himself “once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened [made alive] by the Spirit.” How little we do to thank our Lord for what He did for us!

Objects: Two match boxes, an imita tion cigarette, a small flask-shaped bottle filled with vinegar, a card marked “Show Ticket,” an imitation playing card, and a card on which is written, “The Word of God." (Outline a heart on the end of each box. Color one heart black, and the other white. Cut a door in each heart) Lesson: I want to introduce you to two of my friends, Max and Mike Match Box. They look like twins. These brothers look alike, but one is a Christian and the other is not. I can tell by looking at the heart. Max’s heart is clean, while Mike’s is black. Max, having received Christ as Saviour, gladly receives the Word of God. (Slip the tray >out far enough to allow the card marked “The Word of God" to slip down back of the heart and to be wedged against the end of the box.) When I open the door to his heart you see printed "The Word of God.” Mike does' not want to accept Christ as Saviour and receive the Word of God into his heart. Notice what happens when temptations come along. They do not get into Max’s heart, because he has the Word of God in
