WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP OFFER?
PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES IN SIXTH FORM In Sixth Form, scholars automatically join the Casson Society for seminar-style discussions, and take trips to leading universities and to London to meet former pupils working across law, medicine, the City and the creative industries. Sixth Form academic scholars can pursue on-timetable qualifications alongside their A-levels, including the Extended Project Qualification, a Gold Arts Award and a Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment qualification. Please note that progression into the Sixth Form academic scholarship is not a natural continuation of the Year 9 award: pupils wishing to hold a scholarship in Year 12 must apply at that time, and places are not guaranteed. HOW ARE PUPILS ASSESSED? The academic scholarship assessment will consist of written examinations in all the below subjects:
Key benefits • Bespoke Year 9 curriculum building critical thinking, wider reading and subject enquiry • Extensive debating programme, including Model United Nations and English Speaking Union competitions • Trips to places like Bletchley Park, Down House and leading universities As part of the Hayman Society,Year 9 academic scholars follow a bespoke curriculum from the day they arrive, designed to give a broad academic grounding while developing critical thinking, wider subject enquiry and reading beyond the syllabus. Academic enrichment includes an extensive debating programme led by our debater-in-residence, encompassing Model United Nations and English Speaking Union competitions and, in later years, the Oxford Parliamentary and Cambridge Union competitions, where College teams have had considerable success. Like the rest of the Year 9 cohort, academic scholars choose their GCSE options at the end of Year 9. During their GCSEs they can also pursue a Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), developing independent research skills.

There will also be a one to one interview with a senior member of staff. In some cases, it may not be appropriate for a certain subject to be tested at scholarship level (eg French, Religious studies, Latin); please contact the Admissions Office for guidance. All exam papers are set by the Head of Department. Sample papers are available upon request.
