SUMMER AQUATICS SUMMER AQUATICS LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM
The City of Placentia Learn-to-Swim Program offers swimming instruction for youth ages 9 months to 12 years. All Water Safety Instructors are trained and certified by the American Red Cross. The program is offered at Valencia High School and El Dorado High School.

Prerequisite
Parent-and-child class focused on water orientation. Skills include water adjustment, bubbles, kicking, floating, wall holding, entry/exit, submerging, and safety skills. Introductory class for preschoolers with little/no experience. Focus on fun, safety, and basic skills like bubbles, kicking, arm movement, and water adjustment. Beginner class teaching water entry/exit, floating, submerging, retrieving objects, and basic strokes, including freestyle and backstroke.

Level 1

Must enter/exit water independently, float on front/back, and swim full pool length freestyle
Builds on Level 1 skills. Includes treading water, side breathing, freestyle, backstroke, and introduction to elementary backstroke.
5 – 12 years
Level 2
Advanced beginner class introducing breaststroke and diving. Continues stroke development and safety skills.
5 – 12 years
Must swim at least 1 lap (25 yards) unassisted
Level 3
Refund Requests Refund requests for Learn-to-Swim classes must be submitted 7 days before the session start date. A $12 administration fee applies per class. Refund requests received less than 7 days before the start of the session will be processed at 50% of the registration fees. Refunds are not available once the session begins. There are no make-ups for missed classes or partial refunds. We reserve the right to move your child from the class that you signed up for to one that is more developmentally appropriate.
