JOB DESCRIPTION
• Provide motivational leadership in order to drive performance and reduce staff churn through: coaching (e.g. guiding team members through all interactions); the provision of specialist guidance and feedback; ensuring the Directorates mentoring structure is in place; constantly up-skilling and developing staff; carrying out regular 1-2-1 meetings with direct reports to support their performance and development.
• Regularly host Town Hall meetings to ensure the team is briefed on the successes, keys objectives and upcoming changes/events/projects which will affect the team.
• Ensure the performance appraisals of all staff are completed annually, and relevant training and development is delivered to achieve the highest standards of personal contribution.
• Seek out and share best practice with the wider team to ensure world class service delivery. Encourage knowledge sharing via: Forums; SharePoint; Team Meetings; Facilities Working Group.
• Manage local employee engagement and act as an interface with Unions and designated employee representatives.
• Act as a role model for professional behaviour and best practice.
Sustainability
• Responsible for building an integrated and collaborative working relationship with the Estates & Facilities Sustainability Team to meet energy / carbon / waste reduction targets, and to operate in accordance with College environmental policy. • Responsible for sustainable and environmentally conscious service delivery, prioritising the College’s sustainability agenda e.g. through ethical sourcing; the development and implementation of local sustainability policies and procedures.
• Where reasonably practicable, responsible for ensuring all service partners trade, behave and act sustainably by: sourcing ethically; re-cycling all waste; having an environmental policy; using environmentally friendly products.
• Responsible for minimising the carbon footprint of the campus operation.
General
• Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Directorate.
• To support and deputise for the Assistant Director of Campus Operations in their absence or where demands dictate.
• To be part of the Facilities Management out-of-hours team, ensuring the successful delivery of all Facilities Management Services within the full operational coverage (i.e. 7 days, 365 days a year).
• To support the College’s extended teaching and commercial activities by working flexible shifts and when required weekends.
