passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” We shall have more to say about the way in which Israel was freed from the Egyptian bondage, but- to day I want to show you briefly what happened. Moses had tried various plagues without success. The last was the death of the first-born. Israel was spared this terrible plague by the Passover. We will place this red cloth, re minding us of the Passover, in Paul’s hands. Paul, hold it over your face. (Jerk on the two cords. The black thread in back will break allowing them to come forward. Reach under the cloth and align the cords before uncovering them.) Israel was freed from bondage at the time of the Passover and sinners are freed from sin when they trust the Lord Jesus Christ. May 13, 1956 A H elper H indered OBJECTS: The two black cords men tioned in last week’s lesson, three nursery blocks with the letters, “ E,” “M,” “ I” on them and a piece of black cloth one yard square. (Bore a horizontal hole through each block a
concealing the connection. On one side of the “M ” put one strand of the cord through the “ E.” On the other side of the “M ” put one strand of the cord through the “ I.” ) LESSON: Here we see three blocks on the two black cords. There is an “ E” for the Egyptians, “M ” for Moses, and an “I” for the children of Israel. This black cord reminds us of the bondage of the Israelites in Egypt. I need two boys to hold the ends of these cords. Moses knew that his people were in bondage and he wanted to do something for them but it seemed there was little he could do. One day he saw an Egyptian and an Israelite fighting. He took the part of the Is raelite and killed the Egyptian. We will tie two strands of this cord in a knot. (Take the two which do not go through the “ E” and “ I” and tie a sin gle knot and return the ends to the hands of the boys holding the ends of the other cord.) We will place this black cloth over the blocks to show what happened when Moses killed the Egyptian. The next day Moses found that the Egyp tians knew what he had done sd he fled from Egypt leaving his people in bondage. (Reach under the cloth and pull the cords out of the “M ” block allowing them to disengage. The “M ” will come off leaving the other letters on the cords.) Look, the “M ” block, reminding us of Moses, is off the cords. Moses fled from Egypt leaving his people in bondage. He failed because he was trying to work without being directed by the Lord. Later we shall see what happened after 40 years when he returned to Egypt. May 20, 1956 A M atch and a M an OBJECTS: Two matches and a large bright nail.

OBJECTS: Two pieces of soft cotton cord 6 feet long about the thickness of a pencil and a piece of red cloth one yard square. (Dye the cords
black. Double each and tie them to gether at the fold with a weak piece of black thread. Thus each will turn back where it is tied to the other piece.) LESSON: Which boy will volunteer to help me this morning? Thank you, Paul. I want to put these black cords around your neck to show how the children of Israel were bound in Egypt as is told to us in the first chapter of the Book of Exodus. (In the left hand conceal the portion where the two ropes are joined while putting them around the boy’s neck. If placed in the middle of the back of the neck, the turnbacks will not be noticed.) We will tie these cords in knots to show how hopeless Israel was in the bondage of Egypt. In thinking of Israel, we should not forget that un saved people today are bound with the cords of sin. The children of Israel were in bondage not because of anything they had done, but because of something their ancestors had done. People are sinners today because sin entered the human race through Adam and Eve. In Romans 5:12 we read, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death
little larger than the size of the yam. Before the lesson double one of the cords in the middle and push it through the “M ” block, allowing the folded end to extend a short way through the block. Fold the other cord in the middle and push the folded tip of this cord through the loop of the first cord about half an inch. Then pull the first cord back into the block
