Jim & Marlo Payne ILLINOIS Planting the Seeds of a Strong Business
As the hard work of their team comes to fruition, Marlo loves celebrating everything they harvest for the businesses—even the smallest wins. “We come together as a team every Monday on a video call to celebrate everything that can be celebrated,” she says. “I love that! But I think it’s also important for me and my leaders to pick up the phone and call people to celebrate them too.” As her business continues to grow, what does Marlo hope to see? “I want to see so many more people win!” she says. “I would love to see more people who are able to pay down debt, contribute to education expenses, and achieve great financial independence.” Of all the rewards they’ve reaped from their Melaleuca business, the Paynes are most grateful for the time freedom they now enjoy. Today, Jim works less overtime, and he and Marlo spend more time together, strengthening their marriage. When their first grandson was born, they had the freedom to fully enjoy being new grandparents. And now that her son is moving six hours away, Marlo is grateful she will have the time to travel there and visit. “After all this time, I’m still amazed how even just one month with Melaleuca can make a huge difference in someone’s life,” Marlo says. “All it takes is making the decision to not stay where you’re at, to lock arms with this company that has your best interests at heart, and to work consistently. That’s how anyone’s life can completely change here.”
For Marlo Payne, working with patience and consistency to grow her business is just a natural part of who she is. Being a farmer’s wife, she knows that planting small seeds reaps a big harvest down the road. And that’s the same philosophy she keeps in mind as she builds her Melaleuca business. “I think a successful business starts with relationships,” Marlo explains. “We spend our time cultivating relationships. It’s similar to farming. You have to plant the seeds, water them, and then harvest the rewards—you have to care for them and love them. When you can cultivate good enough relationships with your business partners that you can openly talk and remind each other of your whys , it makes a huge difference.” Marlo knows that the seeds of a successful business are sown when you consistently do the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities. Though all the Critical Activities contribute to a strong business, she has seen that participating in Fast Track is a game changer—and coupled with goals to earn Melaleuca’s monthly promotions, she’s seen so many of her teammates become powerful leaders.
“Don’t cherry-pick your contact list!” Marlo always tells her team. “You don’t decide who does or doesn’t need this. Melaleuca is for everyone.”
