Giving Back
I’ve always believed that if you want your industry to grow, you have to give back.
Over the years, I’ve served on NAHB and local HBA boards focused on education, mentorship, and membership growth. I’ve chaired committees, helped shape professional development, and supported the people and programs moving our industry forward. Beyond IBS, I’ve shared insights at the Southeast Building Conference, Women in Residential Construction, and the Home Builder Digital Marketing Summit , along with webinars, podcasts, blogs, and articles.
Helping others grow in this space remains one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Little Known Facts After earning a communications degree from Boston University, I spent 13 years as a backpacker, dive instructor, and sailboat captain. This is where Blue Gypsy came from. While teaching diving in the British Virgin Islands after 9/11, I created a teen mentoring program focused on kindness, leadership, and global impact. It was used in six countries. In 2006, a shoulder injury brought me ashore, and I fell into the building industry by accident. That unexpected shift became the foundation for everything that followed.
