SIMPLY ORGANIC GIVING FUND
At Simply Organic, we believe in nourishing lives and preserving the Earth for generations to come, all through good food that’s within reach for everyone. In 2001, the Simply Organic Giving Fund was established to support organic agricultural development around the world. In 2018, the Simply Organic Giving Fund turned its focus to supporting nonprofit organizations working to nourish the millions of food insecure across the U.S. and Canada. Our goal is to sup- port these organizations as they identify and implement innovative solutions to increase access to healthy, organic food. As the prevalence of food insecurity persists, Simply Organic remains steadfast in this commitment. Over the past 20 years, the Simply Organic Giving Fund has giv- en more than two million dollars to projects around the globe. Since 2018, we have contributed over $875,000. This year, we contributed a total of $150,000 to the following recipients. FY24 RECIPIENTS • DION’S CHICAGO DREAM, INC. brings fresh, healthy produce to the doorsteps of families in low-income communities throughout the Chicagoland area, relieving food insecurity with access to quality produce. To date, DCD’s award-winning program Dream Deliveries has brought more than 170,000 pounds of healthy food to nearly 2,100 residents. • EMERGENCY FOOD NETWORK’S MOTHER EARTH FARM provides more than 80,000 pounds of organic produce to 75 food pantries in Pierce County, Washington every year. They offer 100+ varieties of fruits, vegetables and herbs to help pantry guests from a wide range of backgrounds access fresh, culturally significant food. • MATTHEW 25’S GROUNDSWELL CAFE is a “pay-it-forward” eatery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, providing access to a menu of fresh, organic meals to individuals of all income levels – regardless of their ability to pay. • PROJECT WORTHMORE’S DELANEY COMMUNITY FARM supports Denver-area refugees through sustainable agriculture training, education, and employment. Organic produce is then harvested and distributed to refugee families through the Yu Meh Food Share program. • SHARING EXCESS helps bridge the gap between food surplus and food scarcity by rescuing and redistributing excess food from businesses and wholesalers to people in need – relieving food insecurity throughout Philadelphia, and now with help from Simply Organic, New York City. Within two years, its Wholesale Food Rescue program – a sorting and gleaning operation – rescued 12 million pounds of fresh produce, distributing it across hundreds of food banks in the area.
[Our work to] fight food insecurity through last- mile logistics and delivery couldn’t be possible without people and partners like [Simply Organic].
