RADIO AND RELAY DEVICE ETIQUETTE PROCEDURE Radios and relay devices are used in many hotels to facilitate communications, resolve guest problems, handle internal situations and take care of many other scenarios in a quick and efficient manner. Earpieces are to be used by Associates to reduce interference. The radios are not telephones. Conversations are not private and may be broadcast in public areas. Always assume a guest can hear. • Utilize the radio codes at all times. • Never announce a guest name or room number over the radio unless a medical emergency exists. • Do not engage in casual conversations over the radio. • Keep transmissions brief and to the point. • Be prepared before using the radio. Know what you are going to say and how you are going to say it before you do it. • Always utilize ear buds. If ear buds are not available, keep the radio volume turned down in areas populated with guests such as the Elevators, Meeting Rooms, Lobby, etc. • Always be courteous while using the radio. Put a smile in your voice. • When calling a department and you feel that it is a sensitive issue or inappropriate for broadcast, ask the person for an extension and use a telephone. • Think before you speak.
ALWAYS ASSUME A GUEST CAN HEAR.
