ARMED ROBBERY This procedure is a guide for all Associates, especially those Associates who handle money in the hotel. The life and well-being of our Associates are more valuable than any money or property that could be stolen; therefore, Atrium Hospitality ’s policy is NO Associate shall actively resist an armed robber. • DO NOT SCREAM or attempt to attract attention to the situation. This makes the suspect nervous and possibly overreact in a way not originally planned. • Do not hesitate or resist. • Control yourself – do not panic. • Be cooperative – do just as you are told. • Be observant – notice the robber’s hair color and style, color of eyes, scars or birthmarks, clothing and characteristics which might assist in identifying the person. • Activate panic alarm if one is available and you can do so without alerting the robber or endangering yourself. • Do not attempt to apprehend or follow the robber as he/she leaves. • Immediately notify the police and the GM or MOD. • Complete an Incident Report as soon as possible. Include everything you can remember about the robber ’s appearance, clothing , how the robbery took place, and any witnesses to the robbery. • Make sure the GM, MOD, and/or police authorities are informed of anyone else in the area that might have witnessed the incident. • GM/MOD to notify: ahemergencynotification@atriumhospitality.com.
