Safety & Risk Control Resources

2. Do not discuss your actions with non- participating Associates or guests unless the bomb’s suspected location is in a guest room or unless/until an evacuation is ordered. 3. Follow exactly any directions issued by law enforcement authorities, which may include instructions to wait for law enforcement experts to conduct a search of the premises. D. Maintain a log of all pertinent details including the time of the initial call, when authorities were notified, time search was initiated if that decision is made, names and locations of Associates involved, time of arrival of law enforcement officers and/or firefighters, time evacuation was initiated if an evacuation decision is made, areas to be evacuated, and time/location when the explosive or incendiary device(s) were located.

ACTION PLAN IF SEARCH IS TO BE CONDUCTED: Initiate a systematic, sweeping search of the hotel.

1. Each key Associate participating in the search should have a specifically assigned area to be searched. Do not include guestrooms unless the caller involves guestrooms in the conversation or unless other reasons are apparent. 2. The Command Center leader is to keep track of the names and locations of all Associates participating in the search. 3. Each Associate involved in the search should have a cell phone programmed with the phone number of the Command Center and should report the results of each search area when completed. 4. DO NOT use two-way radios or walkie-talkie devices during the search as those could trigger detonation of the bomb. 5. DO NOT turn on lights or touch thermostats during the search as those could trigger detonation of the bomb. 6. Search logical areas on a priority basis but systematically and not randomly. For example, if the threat is against a specific group in a meeting room search the meeting room and immediately adjacent areas first. 7. When entering a room during the search, move to various parts of the room listening for a clockwork device. Work around the room checking for items that are not normally present or do not appear as they typically do such as a cover missing or dislodged from the room thermostat or air conditioner/heater. 8. DO NOT touch any suspicious object or area. Notify the Command Center leader immediately. Suspicious objects will be removed by police or fire department bomb squads.
