BROKEN GLASS IN POOL OR SPA

PRIORITIES: • Isolation of glass in pool or on poolside. • Immediate closure of pool • Safe removal of guests from the pool PROCEDURES: 1. Notify the MOD. 2. In a controlled manner, evacuate the pool area. Inform guests there is broken glass in the pool area, and it must be temporarily closed during clean-up for the safety of our guests. 3. Do not allow guests to use the facility: a. Assign a reception Associate to inform guests; or b. Put up temporary signs and/or barriers. 4. Backwash fully all filters and empty the pool or spa of water. 5. Pick up large pieces of glass using the appropriate PPE (gloves). 6. Hose and sweep the water and any remaining glass toward outlet grids. 7. When the pool is being refilled, continue scouring the pool base with a fine sweeping brush, sweeping the water through the sump drain. 8. Check all pool plant equipment and ascertain the correct water temperature and chemical levels before reopening the pool.
