FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES: HOUSEKEEPING & LAUNDRY

LOCATIONS Fire Extinguisher Fire Alarm Pull Station Exit Route Assembly Point (designated meeting place)

All shifts will comply with the following procedures. Second shift will take direction from the MOD. Third shift will take direction from the Night Auditor.

HOUSEKEEPING MANAGEMENT: 1. When the alarm is activated, turn off all equipment. 2. Contact Room Inspectors and Room Attendants on each floor and advise where the fire is located. 3. Obtain occupancy list from Front Desk. 4. Instruct Room Inspectors and Room Attendants to assist guests to stairwells and nearest exits. 5. Check occupancy list and ADA rooms to assist disabled guests who may need help evacuating. 6. Confirm all rooms are vacated, then mark with chalk or with an evacuation sticker. 7. After confirmation all rooms are evacuated, notify Front Desk, MOD, and Engineering by radio: “All rooms are cleared.” Repeat three to four times. Ask for verification: “Front Desk, do you copy?” If yes, reply “10/4.” If no response, repeat until acknowledged. Department Manager/Supervisor on duty: • Ensure all Associates are safe, and you have accounted for each Associate on duty. • Notify the MOD when all Associates are located/identified:

“Housekeeping & Laundry to MOD. ” When MOD responds, announce “Housekeeping & Laundry All Clear!”

Once you have left the building, do not re-enter until given an all clear. Assist with guests as needed. THE HUMAN RESOURCES AND HOUSEKEEPING & LAUNDRY DEPARTMENTS WILL BE CROSS-TRAINED ON FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES AND WILL ALSO HANDLE OR ASSIST WITH THE OTHER DEPARTMENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IF SHORT-STAFFED.
