underwriter and originator. What unique qualities and or personality do you feel makes you most suc- cessful in your profession? The qualities that help make me successful are hard work, determination, always being available for my clients no matter the day or time, and the ability to negotiate and execute great deals for my clients. What outside activities do you enjoy during your free time? My favorite thing to do out-

side of work is spending time with my wife and two daugh- ters. I also enjoy playing basketball—it’s competitive, fun, and is a healthy outlet for releasing stress. What inspiring word of advice would you give to a young executive gradu- ating from college today? Don’t take shortcuts. When you’re starting out, make sure to do and learn as much as you can. The more you do, the more you learn, and the more you know, the faster you grow. 

hat is your great- est professional accomplishment?

I joinedMeridian after college in January 2013 without any background in real estate finance. Since then, I’ve been able to build a successful ca- reer in a field with almost un- limited growth potential at a great company that has given me the tools to constantly move forward. Through hard work and a determination to learn the business, I was quickly able to get to a point where I became a core mem- ber of the Meridian team and have continued to grow from there. I pride myself on being someone who my colleagues and clients can rely on to ne- gotiate and execute the best deals in the marketplace. What is your most nota- ble project, deal or trans- action? Two recent deals come to mind. The first is an acquisition loan for a multi- family property in Virginia; I was able to negotiate an 86.5% loan-to-value fixed- rate deal with a 12-year term, seven years of interest-only payments, and a very favor- able spread. The ability to over deliver and help my client execute his business plan, improve the quality of life for his tenants, and provide his investors with favorable returns is what I work to achieve. The second deal that comes to mind is a 10-year loan featuring a rate of 3.65%, six years of interest-only payments, and a 75% loan-to-value ratio for a mixed-use property in Mas- sachusetts. How do you contribute to your company and / or the industry? I started as an analyst in Meridian’s New Jersey office and now work as a senior underwriter. In 2018, I closed 80 loans totaling ap- proximately $1 billion worth of business and am on track to exceed those numbers in 2019. I work hard to make sure all the clients I work with feel that their deals are my top priority and stay on top of them throughout the whole process, from the initial sizing and quoting through closing. Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in, about your current posi- tion and why you chose

opening for an analyst posi- tion, so I sent in my resume and it turned into a career. I started at the bottom and worked my way up to my current position as a senior

the field/profession you are in today? I began my career in real estate at the suggestion of my good friend, who also works for Meridian. There was a job
