Installation | Compressed Air Filter/Separator

INSTALLATION 1. Piping should be internally cleaned to remove all oil and dirt. New pipe or hose should be installed between the filter and the downstream components.

MAINTENANCE Remove the filter element and replace with a filter cartridge kit when the pressure differential across the filter exceeds 10 psi or if the downstream components exhibit problems associated with reduced pressure or reduced flow. Air Filter Kit Replacement To service filter. SHUT OFF AIR SUPPLY AND DEPRESSURIZE THE UNIT! 1. Unscrew threaded bowl. 2. Unscrew lower filter holder and remove filter element. 3. Clean all internal parts and bowl before reassembling. Use soap and water on plastic parts. Mild cleaning agents can be used on metal parts. 4. If filter post is removed from body, replace O-ring on filter post with O-ring found in Kit; lubricate O-ring with kit grease. Screw filter post into body. 5. Install new element with two new gaskets found in kit. 6. Screw on lower filter retainer and tighten firmly. 7. Replace bowl seal. Lubricate seal with kit grease. Do not use synthetic oils such as esters, and do not use silicones. 8. Screw bowl into body. 9. Apply pressure and check for leaks. If leaks occur, shut off air supply, depressurize the unit and correct leaks. Note: Metal bowls resist the action of most solvents but should not be used where strong acids or bases are present or in salt laden atmospheres.

2. Blow all upstream pipe work clear of accumulated dirt and liquids.

3. Select a filter location as close as possible to the components being protected and upstream of any pressure regulator. Because the filter automatically dumps liquids, choose its location carefully.

4. Install filter so that the air flows in the direction of the arrow on cover.

5. Install filter in a horizontal pipe run with the bowl drain mechanism below the pipe allowing moisture and solids to drain into sump at the bottom of the bowl. 6. Pressure taps are recommended because the filter element should be replaced when the pressure drop across the filter exceeds 10 psi.

OPERATION 1. Both free moisture and solids are removed automatically by the filter. A deflector plate and shroud swirls the air stream providing maximum water and dirt separation. There are no moving parts except the float mechanism. 2. The automatic drain collects and dumps liquids when they reach a predetermined height in the bowl. Rising liquid lifts the float which pressurizes a diaphragm to shift the mecha- nism, expelling liquids under pressure. The unit closes when the liquids have been expelled.
