Product Overview | 4830 Evenglow ™ IT

CONTROLS

The 4830 Evenglow IT is a fully integrated radiant tube heat- ing system that combines a compact spiral heat exchanger with an ultra-low NOx burner in a single, space-efficient assembly. The design is engineered to deliver high thermal efficiency and industry-leading emissions performance. The system utilizes progressive flameless combustion in con- junction with high-rate flue gas recirculation to suppress NOx formation across all operating temperatures. This approach–gas composition, enabling the lowest achievable NOx output from the combustion process. These technologies also promote uniform heat distribution along the radiant tube, which enhances product quality, extends equip- ment service life, and supports increased production throughput. Evenglow IT’s compact footprint simplifies installation in both ret- rofit and new construction scenarios. The integrated design mini- mizes the need for external platforms or catwalks, while internal insulation reduces reliance on costly, labor-intensive field-applied cladding to manage surface temperatures.

Ignition

The Evenglow IT introduces a breakthrough in burner ignition technology with its direct ignition system. At the core, the electri- cally isolated central fuel tube functions as the primary ignition rod. Surrounding it, a multi-lobed grounding nozzle ensures reliable electrical grounding, while a controlled turbulent airflow enhances plasma arc stability and ignition reliability. This robust, long-life system establishes a new benchmark for industrial burner ignition performance.

Combustion Safety

Flame monitoring is achieved via ultraviolet (UV) detection up to 850 °C. Beyond this threshold, the combustion process transitions to a flameless mode, and monitoring ensures that the operating temperature remains above the 850 °C permissive limit to main- tain safe conditions. With the integration of a suitable burner management control- ler and associated safety components, the system is designed to comply with the requirements of NFPA 87 and EN 746-2, ensuring a safe and standards-compliant combustion system.

CAPACITIES

The Evenglow IT is available in a range of tube diameters and thermal capacities. Specific configurations and performance data are presented in Table 1, page 3.

FUEL COMPATIBILITY

OPERATION

The Evenglow IT is compatible with a wide range of gaseous fu- els, including natural gas, LPG, coke oven gas, mixed gases, and fuel/hydrogen blends. Consult your Fives North American sales representative to review your specific fuel composition.

The Evenglow IT integrates seamlessly with modern control systems. Whether the application requires pulsed on/off control or modulating operation, the unit is engineered to accommodate both modes reliably. Evenglow IT is effective over a range of capacities offering performance down to 10:1 turndown. To reduce system complexity, the Evenglow IT initiates combus- tion with high excess air during cold ignition. As the radiant tube temperature increases, the excess air rate is systemati- cally decreased in accordance with a prescriptive control curve, ultimately achieving a target oxygen concentration of 2–3% (dry basis) once temperatures exceed 700 °C (1292 °F).

PERFORMANCE

The performance of radiant tube systems depends on several factors, including tube size, configuration, chamber temperature, heat input, and other engineering parameters. Because of this, it is not possible to present performance data covering all potential outcomes in a single bulletin. Contact your Fives North American sales representative for precise performance estimates tailored to your specific application.
