34 Years of Youth Choir Excellence- An Ongoing Capital City Legacy
Trenton Children’s Chorus has much to be proud of. Founded in 1989 as “Covenant Singers” by the remarkable Sue Ellen Page and a dedicated team at Nassau Presbyterian Church, the vision of a vibrant youth choir in the Capital City sparked enthusiasm among families both within and beyond Trenton. From wide-eyed, fidgety kindergarteners to proud, poised high school singers, the Trenton Children’s Chorus has inspired audiences throughout the state and region, showcasing the power and beauty of young voices. During the 2023-24 season, TCC expanded its engagements beyond the typical performance schedule. In December 2023, the Training Choir ushered in the holiday season with a festive program of carols at Artworks in Trenton, as part of the Mill Hill Holiday House Tour. In February 2024, TCC launched its inaugural “Soul Food and Song” event, a celebration of Black History Month led by our talented choristers. The program featured a variety of choral and instrumental pieces, poetry, and historical narratives presented by individuals and small groups, culminating in a community dinner with “soul food” prepared by the Black-owned restaurant, The Big Easy . The season concluded with a Juneteenth performance alongside the Capital Singers of Trenton and the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, as well as an invitation to perform at the historic Riverside Church in New York City.
