owdo you contribute to your company and / or the industry? It’s no secret that the commercial real estate industry has been slow to adopt the widespread use of technology from third party providers. My role within NAI Global is to engage with those companies to better un- derstand their platform and how they add value to the broader commercial real es- tate brokerage industry. From there, my team and I strategize on a go to market plan for how their service can provide solu- tions to the pain points our NAI professionals are experiencing. This process allows me to con- tribute to the industry by help- ing to educate NAI’s network on tools that can enhance their business. Who or what has been the strongest influence in your career? Whether you realize it or not, there’s no escaping the affects that real estate has in our daily lives. There are senior executives at major pri- vate equity firms, development firms, asset management firms, brokerage firms, etc., making decisions that greatly impact the local communities in which they operate. It is important to me that people from all walks of life, especially individuals from underrepresented minor- ity groups, are considered when discussions are being held in which the outcome can have generational consequences. What impact has social media/networking had on your career? Networking has had a profound impact on my career and is largely the reason why I’m in the position I am today. A C-Suite executive at the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm pro - vided me with the opportunity to have my first taste of the industry as an intern going into my last year of undergrad. From there, I met a gentleman who was, and still serves as the current president of the firm I work for, NAI Global. During my conversation, I found out that the two men were con- nected in ways that I couldn’t imagine as they had a working relationship dating back 30+ years. For some, networking comes naturally and for others it may feel like a chore, but it’s a neces- sary action to take. The people you meet, and the knowledge you may gain is invaluable. Fortunately, I’ve been lucky H
understand their business is crucial in my journey to offer solutions that are beneficial to NAI’s internal network of firms. What outside activities do you enjoy during you free time? I really enjoy going for walks when it’s nice outside. There’s so much to see in NYC and it’s a good way for me to stay connected with what’s going on in my community. In normal times, I also like to visit the gym regularly throughout the week. My day never feels complete if I’m unable to get some form of physical activ- ity in. What inspiring words of
advice would you give to a young executive graduating from college? My advice to a young executive graduating from college would be to re- member that there is no script. Life will throw all kinds of ob- stacles at you but you have to do your best to stay the course to recognize the future you want to achieve. Another piece of advice I would give is to continue learn- ing by any means necessary. There’s a wealth of information out there and I think it can only benefit you as a person if you continue striving to absorb as much as you can. MAREJ
