King's Business - 1950-12

over. He was on the Mount of Trans figuration with Jesus which was a wonderful privilege and honor. Let us not be restless as we wait. Sometimes the Answer is “ Perhaps” 2 Sam. 7:13 David had a great desire in his heart with which God was well pleased. He spoke well of David for having this desire to build a great temple for the glory of that wonderful Name. How ever, it was not God’s will or plan for him to do it. The desire was all right but the consummation of the plan was to belong to another. He did per mit David to make preparations and accumulate supplies. One may have godly desires that please the Lord and yet He may want others to carry out the plan. Jan. 28, 1951 CHRIST CALLS Isa. 6:1-8; Matt. 4:18-22 First, Christ must call us for His service and then He gives us the need ed teaching and training for that service. Much o f that which is called Christian service is really dead works with no effective results in the hearts and lives of people. We cannot win others until Christ has first won our own hearts and souls. We cannot tell the story to others unless we know it well ourselves. We cannot lead others to love our Lord unless we ourselves love Him. Let us yield ourselves to the Spirit o f God to make us fit and useful in the service of the King. Christ Purges Us to Make Us Fit Heb. 1:3 Every man and woman is beset with sins of various kinds. Sometimes these are sinful habits and other times they are sinful ways. There are sins of character and sins of conduct. There are very serious sins of omis sion as well as sins of commission. Our Lord Jesus had to die both for what we are and for what we do. He suffered for our sinful character as well as for our sinful conduct. By the work of the Spirit applying all o f this to our souls, we are made fit to be messengers of God running His errands. The Holy Spirit Calls Us Into the Service Acts 13:2 The only one who really knows our character and potentiality is the Spirit of God. He is the only One who knows what we can do and where we should be located in order to do it well. He is the only One who can equip us with the necessary tact, knowledge, wisdom, and zeal to become effective servants in the harvest field. His selections are always right. He places the child of God in the right place for the best re sults. THE K I NG ' S B US I NE S S
