CULTURE REACTION House Plays

The REACTION House Plays Festival is a special part of the year, and it is always fantastic to see such a range of students getting involved. It was wonderful to have the two evenings of competition happen as usual this year after two years of pandemic-enforced changes. Our student directors and managers did an excellent job in preparing casts during a very tight time frame. We applauded all who gave up their time for the festival and enjoyed the energy, humour, creativity and teamwork on show. There were many highlights, and we expect people to talk about the dancing Julius cast, the lightsaber choreography from Somes, and the slick performances from Corfe for years to come. In the end, the Tothill Cup stayed in the hands of Somes House for another year after winning the Best House Play award for an epic performance of Star Wars Episode 3 , and Ciaran Huntley taking out the Best Director award. Ciaran

led his team with creativity and professionalism and the judges were impressed with his work. The Best Actor award was presented to Ryan Primus for his portrayal of Ella in Waiting for Death . The play allowed Ryan to investigate the unravelling of a character as she panicked about the possibility of imminent death, as well as her failing relationship. Other wonderful actors received credit for their efforts. Santino Felitti-Duter was a hilarious movie

goer; Freddie Sudell, an outstanding narrator; Max Topham, a brilliant Hamlet; and Jacob Clements, a standout Chancellor Palpatine. The show could not have happened without the incredible technicians who worked tirelessly to ensure that sound and lighting happened without a hitch.
