Fewer council meetings? Members of Alfred-Plantagenet Township council wonder if fewer meetings might help save a bit of money on the administration side of the municipal budget or just create more problems. Council reviewed a recent report from administration on the amount of work involved during a four-week period and including a proposal for changing the public meeting schedule for council to every three weeks during the year rather than the current two meetings every month plus the monthly committee of the whole session. Some council members wondered whether such a change might prove too confusing to residents who want or need to attend a council session, and also whether the change might just end up increasing the agenda workload for a public council session. Their project, if approved for the application list, would produce between 6 to 10 kW of electricity for sale to the grid.The current application protocol requires local municipal support for such applications but does not impose any responsibility on the municipality for project costs or anything else. – Gregg Chamberlain
