BIRDING IN THE FIELD Join an experienced guide to explore some of Pearland’s birding hotspots. Participants will get the opportunity to see a variety of species and learn tips for identifying birds in the field. All skill levels are welcome, whether you are just getting started or are a lifelong birder looking for folks to enjoy the outdoors with, Birding in the Field is sure to be a great time! $20 16+ years Fri., June 5, 8 – 11 a.m. DFNC Fri., July 17, 8 – 11 a.m. SCR Nature Trail Fri., Aug. 28, 8 – 11 a.m. DFNC NATURE WORKSHOPS Join our Natural Resources team for their new monthly workshops at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center! These workshops will cover a variety of nature-based and natural resources topics. Come early to take a tour of the nature center. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. on every 4th Thursday of the month. $5 16+ years DFNC Thur.; June 25, July 23, Aug. 27; 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. ADULT ARCHERY Explore Archery is fun and a perfect fit for archers of any age or ability who want to get involved in the sport of target archery. If you are new to the sport of archery or a beginner archer looking for an introductory program, Explore Archery has what you need to get started! You’ll learn important skills like range safety and proper shooting form, will learn about archery equipment and will play fun archery games. Explore Archery is a prerequisite for participation in other Greater Pearland Archery Club (GPAC) programs. After completing Explore Archery, participants may join GPAC / USA Archery to participate in other GPAC programs, competitions and events. GPAC offers USA Archery Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) and USA Archery Adult Archery Program (AAP) programs. Members also may compete in USA Archery competitions locally, around the state and nation. During the summer, GPAC will host beginner Explore Archery at its indoor range on Thursdays and also will offer Youth JOAD and Adult AAP archery both indoors and outdoors. HUNTER EDUCATION The Texas Hunter Education certification program covers the skills, regulations and responsibilities of hunting, conservation, wildlife management and identification. This certification lasts a lifetime and is recognized by all states and provinces requiring hunter education. To register, go to tpwd.elementlms.com and click on the “Hunter Education” tab. Select the “Hunter Education Classroom Course” option and search for Pearland classes. $15 course fee & $15 facility fee 9+ years DFNC Sat., July 18, Aug. 1, Aug. 22, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. BAYOU KAYAKING Join our Outdoor Recreation team on a guided tour of Armand Bayou! Participants will kayak the bayou looking at the extensive wildlife while enjoying one of the Houston-area’s last natural bayous. Single, sit-on-top kayaks will be provided. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 18. Participants will meet at Bay Area Park by 8:30 a.m. the morning of the program. $45 residents / $56.50 non-residents 12+ years Armand Bayou (Bay Area Park) Sat., June 20, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
