Imperial College Healthcare-Redevelopment Technical Director

The Trust is expanding its existing redevelopment team, bringing in the skills and capacity needed to effectively manage this redevelopment programme. Governance structures have been revised, reflecting organisational commitment and ensuring there is demonstrable Executive and Board scrutiny of plans and progress as the project progresses. This role will directly support the development of these redevelopment proposals. The Post Holder will be professionally accountable for development and implementation of delegated objectives, tasks and duties within the Trust’s Investment Programme and will be required to:

1.Work as part of the wider Redevelopment Project Team.

2. Lead the development of standards and guidance to inform the technical specification of projects covering construction, building services, sustainability, digital infrastructure and smart buildings. 3. Liaising with, support and advise the Project Directors, Commercial Director, Project Managers and developer/contractors on all matters relating to construction on all sites. This includes ensuring that the Trust’s Requirements and output specs are complied with in full and that variations to them are minimized and that disputes are resolved. 4. Management of any technical / construction interface risks related to the redevelopment programme on all sites. These are expected to be substantial and may result in potential disruption to operational functionality and will need to be managed effectively to ensure continuity of healthcare services throughout the programme. 5. Monitoring the overall construction and technical commissioning programme and taking responsibility for the management and correction of any compliance issues, reporting to the Redevelopment Director on progress generally, issues, delays and the action being taken to manage delays to programme. 6. Responsible for the development and implementation of ICT/Digital plans for the redevelopment programme. This includes understanding the interface between the Trust’s clinical digital strategy and the redevelopment digital plans and implementation of smart building technology. 7. Responsible for the development and implementation of the redevelopment sustainable plans specifically to respond to the net zero carbon agenda. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust’s Green Plans. 8. Support close working with the other corporate functions, including engagement with clinical and operation leadership, estates and facilities, ICT. 9. Engage with stakeholders and develop productive working relations including with NHSI/E, New Hospital Team, Imperial College London, local authorities, contractors and suppliers, professional bodies and industry experts. 10. Act as delegated budget holder for Redevelopment Programme including purchasing professional services, contractor works and physical assets as part of the Redevelopment Programme.

11. Provide project leadership and relevant support including deputising for the Director of Redevelopment as required.
