Socrates said that the unexamined life is not worth living. A terrific practice is to look back over the past year and ask: What gifts and joys are worthy of my gratitude from that year? What careless words or actions might require confession and repentance to someone? Reflect on God moments realized over the past year and thank Him for His goodness, we so often forget or neglect all He does for us. Try and see where He was in each month of the year. What signs of Gods presence did we miss over the year? He was in every moment and all circumstances, but what was He doing in or through us? What things did He do in our lives that we took for granted or maybe missed? What does His plan for our lives seemingly seem to be pointing to for this new year ahead? Looking back can be one of the best ways of looking forward. Look back even over the past few days. What did He do in our lives in time with family and friends? He was there in the times of disappointment and joy that we experienced. As we anticipate the New Year and pray for the best in each of our lives as we seek, or follow the Lord to know and do His will. How wonderful to be given a clean slate of 12 months to be blessed and be a blessing. Serving as Chaplain at ORPS is a GREAT blessing for Karen and me. We don’t take it lightly and are thrilled to be with you. Our lives have been enriched by knowing and living with you…THANKS so much for blessing us with these great joys.
