Intentional Living People often ask my bride and I how we find the time to get remarried every year and to keep our romance levels burning at maximum heat. After all, I own and operate multiple businesses and speak and teach around the world. We homeschool our kids — and they have many extracurricular actives. My bride has her own convalescent ministry, and I serve on various nonprofit boards. Most people consider us “busy.” However, that is not the case. In my opinion, busy is the worst thing you can be. My bride and I choose to be intentional. We intentionally choose where to focus our time and energy, making sure to prioritize our time together. For example, in our current life stage, we have a 14-year- old son and an 11-year-old daughter. At 8 p.m. our children know that Mom and Dad are not available. At approximately 7:55 p.m. every night, we say our good- nights, read some Bible verses, and pray over them. We then proceed to the west wing of the house and enjoy 2–3 hours of uninterrupted time together. Our daughter’s bed time is 8:30 p.m. and our son’s is 9 p.m. They can read books or do crafts in their rooms until bedtime, but they are not to disturb us.
