Russell Township has launched a Go Fund Me project in an effort to raise $100,000 to help finance the Jonathan Pitre Park project. The park, which will be designed to be accessible to children and adults with mobility issues, is named in honour of Jonathan Pitre (with his mother in the photo), a Russell resident, also known as «the Butterfly Child» because he suffered from a disease that made his skin as fragile as a butterfly’s wing. Before his death in April 2018, Jonathan had dedicated his life to promoting public awareness of rare diseases like his and also inspiring others to strive for their dreams.
