DEVELOPMENT Annual Appeal 2020
Our Annual Appeal usually seeks support for special or unique projects. However, this year we decided to make our community – our families – the focus of our 2020 Annual appeal. And we’ve been thrilled by the response. As we face the global economic downturn in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are confronting economic uncertainty and many families and communities across New Zealand face significant hardship. The College community is no exception. We know that a number of our families are struggling in this changed environment, and given the circumstances and current economic outlook, many more will be affected in the coming months. Every boy who comes to College is valued, and we want all of our boys to come to school confident of their future educational pathway, able to focus on learning and growing, to become the young men we celebrate, who go out and make a difference in the world. We are very grateful for the generous donations to this year’s appeal and to date we have raised $86,011. Once all the donations have been collated, we will begin the process of allocating funds to families who need our support. Significant gift from Christ’s College Old Boys’ Association The success of this year’s Annual Appeal has not only been because of the generosity of the Christ’s College community, but also because of a significant gift from the Christ’s College Old Boys’ Association. The CCOBA committee kindly donated the inaugural gift from the Committee’s Hardship Fund which provides support to boys whose families may be experiencing financial difficulties. This generous support not only benefits members of our community who may be in need, but also marks an important step in CCOBA and College working even more closely together. The school’s 175th anniversary in 2025 presents a tangible goal for the two groups – cementing the relationship with Old Boys and College. Looking forward to celebrating this milestone.
