There have been at least two major occasions in the last few months when we have been very happy to be able to thank our sponsors for their ongoing generous support and enthusiasm.
Special rugby brunch The Christ’s College v Christchurch Boys’ High School brunch held before the annual rugby fixture was certainly one for the books. We had been out of lock down for just over six weeks, the weather was relatively warm for winter, and everyone was ready for a good time. Security was high, because for the first time in many years, the game was being played on a Saturday. It was wonderful to welcome 96 sponsors to the 10am buffet-style brunch, led by MC Tim Dyer. We had an impressive lineup of speakers which included the 2018 1st XV captains, College’s Sam Darry and Boys’ High’s Louis Chapman. Our lead rugby sponsor, Landrover New Zealand, was represented by General Manager Steve Kenchington who spoke of the special relationship between College and Landrover. Crusaders’ Board Chairman Grant Jarrold also spoke at length on the importance of schoolboy rugby. Christ’s College 1st XV coach Reuben Thorne made a fleeting appearance before the game to assure everyone College would be giving its all on the field. With brunch over, our guests were shown to their seats in the stand where they watched the nail-
