Who would have thought that the shirts well-dressed London types frequenting Saville Row and Jermyn Street – and even those known to reside at a certain Highgrove country estate - are designed and made here in Gloucestershire? Bearlands House is the factory for the clothing empire of Emma Corfield (neeWillis). Visit her website and you will find an interactive version of a recent GQ magazine cover featuring music star Stormzy, with a link hovering over his shirt leading to a chance to buy a version of the shirt yourself. Other stars which have sported her apparel include Gabby Logan, Simon Pegg (another GQ cover), Benedict Cumberbatch, David Gandy, David Tennant, Angelina Jolie, Russell Watson, Daniel Craig, Suggs, Samuel L. Jackson and Barack Obama. The Slade School of Art graduate started her business in
1989, designing and making men's luxury shirts, ties, boxer shorts and nightwear, all made in England. A decade on, she opened her Jermyn Street shop and in 2010 opened her Gloucester shirt making factory. She also founded Style for Soldiers, a charity, in response to the numerous casualties incurred in Iraq and Afghanistan.
