2020 Senior Men's Golf Organization SMGO invites all Members age 55+ to join our program. The program features an ABCD scramble at 8:30 AM typically on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month at the ARL course, from April - October. Other tournaments may be scheduled upon availabilty. All Members welcome regardless of handicaps. SMGO Memberships for 2019 will automatically renew for 2020, unless you cancel Membership in the ARL Golf Shop or contact Tim Campen at (703) 901-3609. A sign up list for new Members will be in the ARL Golf Shop by December. The 2020 dues will be set prior to the season opening. Dues cover the cost of lunch in the Clubhouse at the completion of each of the 14 ABCD Scrambles. A $10 entry for the prize pool and the cost of coffee and pastries is collected before each ABCD scramble. Stan- dard cart fees are charged for each event in which a Member participates. Click here for more information. On January 1, 2020, the USGA Handicap System will be replaced with the World Handicap System. The handicap system will be shut down for five days and will be brought back online on January 6, 2020. Its purpose is to enable as many golfers as possible the opportunity to: • Obtain and Maintain a Handicap Index, • Use their Handicap Index on any golf course around the world, and •Compete, or play recreationally, with anyone else on a fair basis. To read about "The 5 Things You Need to Know About the New World Handicap System," please click here. World Handicap System The World Handicap System (WHS) aims to bring six different handicap systems together into a single set of Rules of Handicapping, enabling golfers of different abilities to play and compete on a fair and equal basis, no matter how or where they play.Golf is a global sport, with a single set of playing Rules, a single set of equipment Rules and a single set of Rules of Amateur Status. The missing link is handicapping, and after significant collaboration with the existing handicapping authorities and National Associations, the time is right to bring the different handicap systems together.

We’ll kick it off in a few months with plenty of opportunities for working women to play golf. It might be too cold (for some) to golf in January, but CWGO hosts socials in the winter months so that we can get together with friends and make new friends in the off season. Our first event was a Happy Hour at Arlington's Eisenhower Lounge on December 12 th . We had a great turnout and it was nice to celebrate the holiday season together. January Winter Social - Wreath Clean Up at Arlington Cemetery : Every year, over 250,000 wreaths are placed on the graves of the heroes at Arlington Cemetery to honor and remember their service. While thousands of volunteers participate in the wreath laying ceremonies in December, the clean up efforts draw less of a crowd. This year, CWGO will gather a group of volunteers to help with wreath retrieval. Join us at our social event in

Did you know? ANCC FOUNDATION During World War II the United States Golf Association encouraged clubs to turn part of their roughs into victory gardens. While few clubs implemented this recommendation, some went all out. The Wygagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, New York plowed up their first two holes to allott plots to each member family. Briarwood Country Club in Deerfield, Illinois used eleven sites on their property to produce 150 tons of tomatoes for the Armed Forces. To what extent did Army Navy Country Club partipate in this effort? Click here to find out.
