Glenergy supplied a Kronoterm SMAX WP4 LF-502 hot water heat pump, providing an efficient solution for the schools’ hot water requirements. Designed specifically for applications with higher hot water demand, the SMAX incorporates a 450L storage tank and delivers approximately 4kW of heating capacity from the heat pump. The system can produce water temperatures of up to 65°C using the heat pump, while two integrated 2kW electric heaters provide additional capacity when required. A built-in heat exchanger also allows connection to an external heat source, giving the system additional flexibility during periods of increased demand. The SMAX controls provide straightforward management of domestic hot water production. Developed for larger hot water
consumers, including schools and other commercial buildings, the WP4 LF-502 combines substantial storage capacity with heat pump technology to help reduce the energy required for domestic hot water production. Compatible with indoor or outdoor air intake and outtake, the WP4 LF-502 can also be connected to external heat sources such as solar collectors or a solid fuel furnace. Parallel connection is possible across multiple heat pumps. The integrated Optitronic 2 controller
features an LCD graphic display and is ready for photovoltaics connections and intelligent systems. It offers ECO, Normal and Comfort modes; booster, ventilation and external heat source functions; and a time-scheduled anti- Legionella programme. Jonathan Leonard, Director, says, “Glenergy’s installation at Coláiste Pobail Fóla and Gaelscoil Lir provides a practical, energy-efficient hot water solution designed to meet the demands of a busy educational environment.”
