Engineer wins year of OFTEC registration at Plumbex
At the Plumbex shows, OFTEC gave one year’s free registration as part of the organised raffle and the winner in Limerick was Kevin Finucance. Kevin was very positive and appreciated the win, saying, “I am a Chartered Engineer with a background spanning electronic and mechanical engineering, project management and property management. “Over the years, I have also built up considerable practical experience managing and maintaining residential properties, where heating systems and ongoing property maintenance are an important part of what I do. “I decided to undertake OFTEC training to build on this experience and gain a deeper, professionally recognised understanding of oil-fired heating systems. The course has strengthened my knowledge of boiler servicing, combustion analysis, fault finding and safe working practices, while complementing my wider engineering and practical experience.
“My aim is to develop oil boiler servicing as an additional area of my business, providing customers with a professional, thorough and technically informed service. I also see OFTEC training as an excellent foundation for continuing to develop my knowledge of domestic heating and energy systems. “Winning free OFTEC registration was a fantastic added bonus. It gives me the opportunity to put my training into practice as an OFTEC Registered Technician and provides a great platform from which to develop my boiler servicing business. Just as importantly, OFTEC registration gives customers the reassurance of knowing that their heating system is being serviced by someone working to recognised industry standards. “I am delighted to have completed the training and look forward to putting the knowledge and skills I have gained into practice and continuing to develop within the heating industry.”
with a smile and an OFTEC mug. We met and had positive discussions with a number of technicians who have completed their OFTEC 101 and OFTEC 105 recently and who were interested in joining OFTEC. The technician field guide was a hot topic of conversation, with many technicians welcoming the positive and easy-to-use information available in the guide. We think it is important that registered technicians are recognised as the professionals they are and will continue to promote them as experts in their field. “Companies are registering as their customers recognised that when they choose an OFTEC registered company, they know they are getting qualified individuals who are committed to quality work with reliable support and back up from a bona fide trade association.”
