Professor Andrew Sherry (73-80) has been appointed Chief Scientist at the UK’s National Nuclear Laboratory. He maintains a position at the University of Manchester, where he continues to supervise research. Dr Michael Shirley (48-55) lives with his wife, Jean, in western Massachusetts and would enjoy hearing from other OAs living in or passing through the area. Michael can be contacted via michael_a_shirley @ mac.com. Michael Simmonds (94-96) returned to the College in November 2014 to adjudicate the College’s first Drum Rudiment Competition. Bob Simpson (63-70) graduated from Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia, in July 2014 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Law. Author Tom Rob Smith (87-97) published his latest novel, The Farm , in February 2014. The film adaptation

of his first novel, Child 44 , starring Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman, will be released in April 2015. In October 2014 Tim Swiel (10-11) joined Harlequins rugby club on loan from South African Super Rugby team Sharks, joining fellow OAs Nick Easter (91-96) and Sam Twomey (08-10). Booker Prize-winning author Graham Swift (60-66) was at the British Library on 15 December 2014 to discuss his work with the Library’s Writer-in-Residence, Erica Wagner, and to read from his most recent book, England and Other Stories . Harold White (26-32), one of three brothers to attend the College in the inter-war years, celebrated his 100th birthday on 25 January 2015. James Wisson (96-06) won his second rugby Blue for Oxford on 11 December 2014 as Oxford defeated Cambridge in the 133rd Varsity match at Twickenham by a record score of 43-6. James, who plays hooker, is reading for a DPhil in Economics at St Anne’s College. He won his first Blue in the 2013 Varsity match, also won by Oxford.

Terry Walsh (Senior Fellow; Past President) recently compiled the following list of the oldest living (retired) members of College staff. Many OAs will remember these masters well.
