wives. Our newly elected Honorary Vice Commodore, Brigadier Johnny Walker (51-59) and his wife, Sue, were also in attendance. The Tony Pendry Cup was awarded to Cameron Cunningham as the boy showing the most aptitude and keenness during the week. I should like to take this opportunity to thank the skippers and crews who all gave their time voluntarily and made the week possible. Our thanks also go to the College and Damian King (Director of Science), who gave up his valuable time to stand in for Jemima Lofts (Head of Sailing) at short notice. Our AGM lunch in April was attended by a mixture of ol’ salts and younger members with wives and partners. The Admiral (the Master) and Angela Spence were also with us, as was the President of the Alleyn Club, Dr Colin Niven (52-60). At the AGM Brigadier Johnny Walker was elected Hon Vice Commodore and Chris Torrens and Liana Light, parents of Ollie Light (03-08) who kindly allow the Arrow Trophy crew to bunk down in their house in Cowes and provide ‘builders’ breakfasts’, were elected honorary members. The Archie Shaw Cup was awarded to Jerry Saville (61-69), our outgoing Commodore. Jerry must be thanked for taking the helm at a time of transition and guaranteeing the continuation of the Society’s activities. In September we held our Commodore’s Lunch at Chichester Yacht Club (regarded as the Society’s second home, having been the venue for its inaugural meeting many oceans ago) and was an occasion for many ex-ASS sailors to mix with current younger members. Younger members are the future of the Society and we are hoping to get three or four on-board during the 2015 Boys’ Sail Training Week to allow them to gain experience acting as a second mate before going on to be skippers in the future. Alex Langley (98-03), Tim Soare (01-08) and other younger members will be leading the drive to attract more school leavers to join the Society. The possibility of entering the Round the Isle of Wight race is being discussed, as is chartering a yacht and crossing the Channel. Under the banner of Dulwich College we won the Arrow Trophy for the third time, ably led by Alastair Capon (73-80), who is always looking for younger crew members to join the team. Once again, none of the above could take place without the backing of our members, the College, the Alleyn Club and the Friends of Dulwich College, who all continue to give generous support. Thank you all.

With the addition of the OA Association Football Club in 2014 there are now 11 sports clubs and societies operated by Old Alleynians and supported by the Alleyn Club. Many offer both competitive play and a range of sporting and non-sporting social activities, and several are open to non-OAs and run activities for children. Commodore: Graham Nicholls (Honorary Staff Member) Hon Secretary: Anthony Frankford (62-69) Email: anthonytfrankford @ gmail.com Web: www.dulwich.org.uk/alleynian-sailing-society Commodore’s Report 2014 turned out to be a great success both on and off the water. Though the weather was mixed, the Boys’ Sail Training Week allowed 20 boys from the College to learn a lot about keel-boat sailing and yachting. With two new skippers, John Jennings (Staff 78-86) and Peter Leggett (68-76), taking the helm and Harry Tinker (02-11) coming on-board as a new crew member, the week passed without any notable hitches. This year we visited Gosport marina for the first time, with the opportunity of taking the ferry across to visit Ocean Village, HMS Victory and the Mary Rose. The last night supper was held at the Island Sailing Club and attended by past commodores and their
