Fundraising in 2014

University, Laurie began her career in education, teaching History at Regis High School, a boys’ school in New York City. She spent 10 years at The American School in London, in roles including Director of Alumni Relations, Director of the Annual Fund and, most recently, Associate Director of Advancement for Capital and Planned Gifts. In Laurie’s first weeks at the College she is pleased to have attended the 10 Years On Reunion and Spring Concert at King’s College, Cambridge. She looks forward to meeting more OAs at the many events scheduled this year, including in her native New York this spring. The Laboratory

As this edition of the Alleyn Club Newsletter goes to print, members of the College’s Science department and Facilities team are moving into the completed first phase of The Laboratory. Construction has proceeded on time and on budget, and lessons in the new facilities will commence at the start of Summer Term. We are very grateful to the 1,200+ individuals who have donated to this vital project over the past three years. More than £4m in donations and pledges has now been received in support of The Laboratory, including £1.39m in 2013-14 from more than 900 donors. A complete breakdown of gifts received during the year can be found in the table below. The names of those Alleyn Club members who donated in 2014 can be found on pages 36-38. The Laboratory represents the most significant investment in the fabric of the College since construction of the Barry Buildings in the 1860s. The new building will provide flexible facilities to foster a learning environment that will equip generations of Alleynians to become the great scientists of the future. We are delighted that the first phase of construction has been completed. The exterior of the building is clad in 146 panels, each unique in design and cast in Belgium to a design created by sculptor Peter Randall-Page. Using the Lindenmayer
