photos and Michael Atterton (53-58) toasted the Memory of Dr Niven’s recently deceased brother, Peter (PAR) Niven, whom many OAs remembered if not personally but by his unique initials and presence in our College days. Many guests travelled great distances to enjoy a very special lunch together and we were blessed with a sunny day and good location on the beach. Thank you to all who attended.
A collection of Californian OAs spanning seven decades and their guests gathered for an alfresco dinner in the Hollywood Hills at the home of Richard Evans (87-95) and his wife, Sara. There were signature cocktails, delicious dishes, toasts, speeches, an Edward Alleyn walk of fame cake and, of course, the school song was sung. Old acquaintances were remembered and new friendships made on a relaxed and blissful evening. We were delighted to welcome the President, Dr Colin Niven OBE, who took inspiration from his Hollywood hero John Wayne as he sat by the campfire (patio heater) in a 10 gallon Stetson regaling us with tales of his adventures on the western Dulwich trail. The next event will be lunch on April 4 at the same venue and will be attended by this year’s President, Ivor Warburton (57-65). The Hollywood dinner has been popular in recent years and encouraged enthusiastically by the Alleyn Club with visits from Bernard Battley as President in 2011 and the Master in 2013. Long may it continue.
