A little rain doesn’t bother fans of mud bogging. Saturday’smonsoon-style storm may have put the brakes on part of the fun of Valley Supersport’s inaugural Limoges Mud Bog spectacle but it still couldn’t stop the weekend show fromgoing on to the end. Martin Cayer, one of the co-organizers of the mud bog, confessed to having a sore throat Monday after the weekend from all the cheering he himself had done during the event. Cayer is happy with the results of the com- pany’s first mud bog event over the May 30 weekend, despite the stormy Saturday weather, reporting an estimated 700 or more spectators turning out to watch close to 70 competitors try to plow their way through the water-filled muddy troughs using dirt bikes, quadcycles, ATVs, and four-wheel- drive trucks. “For sure we’re going to have it again next year,” Cayer said. “But we’d like to hold another event this year, maybe in fall.” Cayer also credits strong support from local spon- sors and a «dedicated group of volunteers» for the success of the first Limoges Mud Bog. He and his fellow event organizers will do a brainstorm review session about their inaugural mud bog and make any changes deemed needed for a follow-up event. The feedback session will also help with company plans to develop amotocross track at the Valley Supersport site on Calypso Road. “For sure we’re going to have it again next year,” Cayer said. “But we’d like to hold another event this year, maybe in fall.”
They were off and running, well, running as well as could be expected through the deep and muddy waters at the Limoges Mud Bog for an appreciative audience over the May 30 weekend.
