More than a screen panel
Screenex therefore approaches screening media as part of the complete application, rather than treating aperture size and dimensions as the starting and finishing points of the selection process. Juanita Pienaar spoke with Rinus Botha, National Sales Manager at Screenex, about how screening systems are evolving beyond the panel itself, with installation, maintenance, application knowledge and system design increasingly influencing plant performance.
The bigger picture A screening panel may be the component operators see most readily, but it is only one part of a system that has to work together under demanding conditions. For Screenex, this broader view is becoming increasingly important as mines and processing plants look for ways to maintain throughput while controlling maintenance requirements and production losses. “Screening performance is not determined by the media alone,” says Botha. “Correct
media selection, aperture design, fastening method, tensioning, deck configuration, and maintenance practices all contribute to the overall efficiency of the screen.” The distinction matters in a market where lower-cost screening products are increasingly available. A panel can fit a machine and still be poorly suited to the application. “Incorrect selection can lead to premature wear, excessive blinding or pegging, reduced open area, poor separation efficiency and unnecessary downtime,” he says.
