What is FIRIS – FIRIS is an all-hazard emergency support program consisting of multiple functions to gather timely remote sensing products to incident commander and other senior leaders throughout the State structure. AEVEX provides the aircraft, sensors, and crews who respond statewide to any incident where remote sensing will give the best situation awareness of an incident. WIFIRE is a partnership with the UCSD supercomputer and highly specialized modelers to build fire models and 6-hour predictions using the remote sensing data produced by the AEVEX crews. Intterra is a contractor to store and distribute the AEVEX collected data.

Statewide Emergency Awareness
Since 2020 AEVEX has supported California Office of Emergency Services through a contract with Orange County Fire Authority. AEVEX took the small pilot program from a test concept to a successful operational program flying over 2,000 hours conducting Emergency Incidents throughout the entire state of California.
Custom and Flexible Software Backbone
AEVEX owns and builds the custom software for FIRIS that integrates multiple airborne sensors into one complete data gathering system. The software can process that data to build custom products for immediate dissemination to California senior leaders through traditional systems or mobile devices. Our products are fed to UCSD supercomputers for accurate incident modeling.
