The Marvelville Community Club, which meetsTuesdaymornings at theMarvelville Community Centre, a former schoolhouse on Gregoire Road, is raising funds to build a much-needed wheelchair access ramp. The school closed in approximately 1956, but the building, which had always been used as a community centre as well as a school, continued as a place for concerts, parties, weddings and meetings. The old building requires a lot of upkeep and has never been wheelchair accessible, so the club is making a quilt and selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the ramp. They have had a lot of support including that from contractors, Russell Township and the City of Ottawa. The former hamlet of Marvelville straddles Gregoire Road, making it part of both municipalities. The club started in 1945, and during the Great Ice Storm of 1998 the community
