the first goal of the game, in the first period. Jeremy Quesnel and assistant captain Luke Grainger, both of whom would obtain seve- ral points during the game, assisted him. Quesnel then scored his own goal, assisted by the Hawkesbury captain and Jérémie Payant. Nationals’ Labelle scored Rockland’s first goal, assisted by Gunnar Smith and Dean Taylor. Yet Hawkesbury’s offensive continued to pummel Rockland, as Evan Johnston scored his team’s third goal, assisted by Zachary Lefebvre and Dovar Tinling. The second period didn’t prove to help the Nationals much. Although Smith of Rockland scored first, unassisted, Hawkesbury’s Lefebvre managed to get the puck past the Rockland goaltender Martin Cyrus, assisted by Johnston and Tinling. The latter then scored his own goal, assisted by Félix Sauvé. Now trailing the Hawks 5-2, Rockland tried in vain to scratch their way back. The Nationals’ captain scored on the power play, still in the second period, assisted by Sullivan and Justin Dauphinais. Hawkesbury still had gas in the tank, as Tinling scored once more, assisted by Johnston. The Hawks opened the third period with a power-play goal from Quesnel, assisted by Tinling and Lefebvre. Even a shorthanded goal from Rockland’s Joe Jordan, assisted by William Collins, could not turn the tide of the game in the Nationals’ favour. Rockland lost the game 8-4.

After having won most of their games, the Rockland Nationals were in for a surprise on October 4, as they were soundly defeated by the Hawkesbury Hawks. On October 3, the Rockland team faced off against the Kanata Lasers, at the Kanata Recreation Complex, in what proved to be a nail biter of a game. The Nationals wasted no time in showing just what they were made of. Rockland’s Noah Doyle scored the first goal of the game in the first period, assisted by Vincent Labelle. Another, scored by Natio- nals’ captain Matthew Vermaeten, assisted by Dean Taylor and assistant captain Cole Craft, followed his goal. Kanata clawed their way back into the game during the second period, following a goal by Julian Racine, assisted by Jordan Morgan. The Lasers even managed to tie the scoring early in the third period, following a power-play goal from Paul Larabie, assisted by Ryan Park and Trevor Poeze. Rockland answered a mere two minutes later. Craft managed to score unassisted, followed by Daniel Menges, who was assisted by Alex Frechette. Kanata, now trailing the Nationals 4-2, put their offensive in overdrive and scored one last goal with less than ten seconds left in the game, courtesy of Lukash Matthews,

Hawkesbury Hawks prove to be too much The Nationals then faced off against the Hawkesbury Hawks the following day, at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex, where they met stiffer resistance than in Kanata. Hawkesbury captain Matt Gasuik, scored

assisted by Mahigan Decontie. Yet, to add insult to injury, the Nationals’ assistant captain Jack Sullivan himself scored, with two seconds left before the sound of the final buzzer ringed throughout the arena. Rockland therefore won the game 5-3.
