OPINIONS editionap.

As a former employee of the City of Clar- ence-Rockland, I would like to clarify some points that Mayor Guibor got wrong in his clarification letter about Raymond Serru- rier’s resignation: Albert, Drouin, Baseline and Laurier Streets have been on the to-do list for roads since the road needs study done in 2005; Caron street has been in design and in plan- ning since at least 2006. The Bourget Official Plan? Since when does Bourget have an Official Plan? I’ve only heard of a Clarence-Rockland Official Plan that relates to the counties' Official Plan and this gets reviewed every five years, whether you are on council or not! If there is a Bour- get Official Plan being produced then it is a total waste of tax money and resources. Reserve Funds, which constituted in rais- ing our taxes by almost 30 per cent, and we still had terrible roads in the Spring of 2012; The Cheney water tower was initiated by rural developers of Cheney and Hammond who are Mr. Michel Paquette, Mr. Jacques Bourgon, Mr. René Lavigne, Mr. Marcel Levesque and Mr. Jean-Marc Lalonde (from Hammond). The mayor was not even in the picture when discussions and design for this project started. The Splash Pad was a project done by the Club Optimiste. And let’s note that Coun. Diane Choinière was reluctant about it for fear of drowning....Really? The off-leash dog park was subsidised by developers, and many of Rockland’s build- ers, and initiated by residents of Morris Vil- lage. Finally, Jules Saumure Park was a project initiated by André Lalonde and residents of Clarence-Creek! I know a lot of people have no clue what is going on in this city and still support Gui- bord and now I can see why. It is my opinion that they are misinformed by the mayor. This letter reacting to Mr. Serrurier's res- ignation has to be the most disgraceful and disrespectful action that he has taken: taking credit away from the hardworking, honest people of our community, who have been working all their lives to make this city what it ''was'' only to have it destroyed by this present council. Critic corrects mayor’s claims
