KDL SCAFFOLDING & ACCESS LTD ENSURED A SAFE CONSTRUCTION SITE FOR OHMG AT LISBURN PRIMARY & COMMUNITY CARE CENTRE… KDL DELIVERS ON ACCESS SOLUTIONS
S pecialist contractor KDL Scaffolding & Access Ltd was called on by OHMG to supply, erect and dismantle scaffolding on the 12,792sqm Lisburn Primary & Community Care Centre project. Scaffolding was erected to the exterior of the four-storey building with working platforms at each level and across the top of the building. Internally, scaffolding was required for the safe installation of stairwells and inner floors. This extensive project was not without its challenges as Kieran Dynes, Managing Director for KDL explained, “Situated on the grounds of Lagan Valley Hospital meant there were site access constraints for all subcontractors and suppliers. The blue route – which ran adjacent to the building – had to be kept clear at all times
so as not to hinder any ambulance emergencies. “We had to factor health and safety into every element of the job to accommodate construction staff, hospital workers and patients visiting the hospital. At the same time, our role was to create safe and secure facilities for construction staff to work at heights both outside and inside the building. “The site was heavily sloped, and this necessitated higher scaffolding in some places and the ability to bring
in the necessary plant to erect the scaffolding.” The Clonmore-based firm is a leading provider of residential, commercial, and industrial scaffolding, serving a full spectrum of customers in Ireland and the UK. Commenting on the completed project, Kieran said, “We are proud to have played our part in the construction of the Lisburn Primary and Community Care Centre for OHMG. It was a challenging job at times, but very rewarding, particularly as the building was used as a Covid walk-in clinic before construction was complete.”
