through the resin bound gravel into the natural water table below, making it an excellent SUDS-compliant option. As rainwater management becomes a more topical issue, the use of a SUDS- compliant surfacing solution takes on greater importance. Resin bound systems are extremely durable and come with an expected lifespan of more than 15 years. They are resistant to all weather conditions, all year round and will not distort in the summer, freeze in winter or fade as a result of sunlight. “We only use UV stable resin in order to prevent discolouration,” said Damien.
Resin bound gravel is multifunctional and can be used for entrance paths, driveways, patios, pool surrounds, garden pathways and steps, with very little maintenance required. It’s a safer surface option than some traditional materials due to its low-slip and low-trip properties and is BBA certified, which proves that it has been tested and assessed to be suitable for use within the project framework. ProSurface has installed resin bound gravel paving for local authorities and health trusts across Northern Ireland as well as projects in Scotland and ROI. It also works on a
wide range of smaller, domestic projects and major commercial contracts. Damien and co-MD Philip Tumelty have 30 years’ combined experience in the surfacing industry; founding their own business together, seven years ago.
